  • This Weekend’s Classes & New January Classes

    Makers,

This weekend we have three classes at The Claremont Makerspace: Make An LED Hourglass, Fiber Arts Orientation & Quilting Machine Training.  Both fiber arts classes are excellent ways to get familiar with our textile equipment.  The LED Hourglass project uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as grains of “sand” to simulate the movement of the hourglass, the upper “sand” trickles down one by one, piling up at the bottom. Family pairs (adult / child aged 10+) assembling an hourglass together are welcome. Note that your child will be working with a hot soldering iron. To register for these classes, follow the links below.

We have just added a swath of new classes in January including Intro to MIG Welding, Laser 101, Messin’ Around with Object Oriented Programming, Make A Votive Candle Holder and Intro to 3D Printing. See our full class listings for more information on these.

As a reminder, we are currently conducting a survey regarding our classes. If you have not had a chance yet, please click the following link to fill out our short survey:

  • 3D Print Club Tonight & Weekend Classes

    Makers,

Tonight – Join us for 3D PRINT CLUB! Every week, we’ll get together and participate in a freestyle design session. In a freestyle, participants simply design what they want to. There will also be various design challenges each week if you’re looking for inspiration, and an instructor will be present to offer advice and otherwise help troubleshoot as you create and print designs. Instructor-supported software (and software available on the Makerspace computers) includes Tinkercad and Fusion 360. If you’re an experienced 3D designer, bring your laptop and favorite design software! We’ll also spend time cleaning up our prints and discussing what goes into making the best print possible. This event runs as a 3 month session. At the end of each session we’ll collect our favorite and best prints and have an open showing.

To register for 3D Print Club, please go here.
