Make A Coptic Notebook With Us At Home!

    Makers,

Join us for Make A Coptic Notebook on February 1st. Create a notebook as adventurous as you. This traveler’s notebook uses the Coptic binding method. This unique binding method is one of the oldest in human history, dating back as early as the second century. It allows the book to lay flat when opened to any page, making it great for sketchbooks. Notebook measures 5.75” x 8.75” when done. Your book boards will have been made on the MakerSpace’s laser cutter. Follow along virtually as you construct the notebook!

    Skill level: Super Beginner!

This class will be presented free and virtually via Zoom and class connection information will be sent out prior to the class.  Registration closes January 22nd! Register here.

  • Take A Break with The Lightness of Painting

    Makers,

Join artist Jamie Townsend as he shares his process of painting layers and color in this free virtual class.  Jamie will demonstrate his craft while talking about his technique and answering questions from the virtual audience.

This class is presented free and a link to the Zoom connection information will be sent after registration. The Lightness of Painting will occur on Tuesday, January 12th at 2 PM. Register for this event here.

    On artist Jamie Townsend:

Influenced by the rich and fearless colors of his youth in the 1970’s,  Jamie’s palette is balanced with pastels that came into his work after attending the Ringling College of Art + Design in Florida.  Drawing from his life experience it was merging with Eastern Philosophy that gave Jamie the confidence to develop his own style. He began researching Abstract Expressionists and painting large scale pieces. He embraces the modern street art movement and finds himself doing many murals as canvases.

Soon Jamie was traveling to Europe and discovering the culture and places that fostered this style. He found painting in Provence to be his favorite where the light is so muted and easy to see furthering his sense of color.

When Jamie is not traveling and painting he enjoys being inspired by his children and the natural landscape and farmland of Vermont and it’s hardworking  people. You can often find him building tea houses and doing sculpture out in the forests he has loved since his youth.  During COVID-19, his most recent projects involve building barrel Saunas and sharing the healing powers of steam and heat.
