Make a Rain Water Collection & Garden Irrigation System
June 7, 2025 10 a.m. — 1 p.m.
Learn how to make a rainwater collection barrel and garden irrigation system using well proven techniques.
In this class, the instructor will present in a classroom and hands on in the shop demonstrating how to fabricate a rain water collection system using recycled blue 55 gallon barrels and plastic plumbing pipe and fittings. The first hour will be classroom instruction and short videos. The remainder will be in the shop modifying a barrel for water catchment and demonstrating how to fabricate and interconnect input and discharge plumbing.
$15 members/ $30 non-members

June Open Electronics Meetup
June 10, 2025 6 p.m. — June 10, 2025 9 p.m.
Bring your electronics projects and supplies and have fun visiting with other Electronics Enthusiasts. Work on your projects in our stocked Electronics and Digital Fabrication Lab. In addition to the MakerSpace’s soldering irons, diagnostic tools, and parts library, there will be some LED soldering kits and soldering irons available for purchase as well.
Hang out, finish your projects, think about future projects, and just enjoy being around other electronics enthusiasts.
Tiffany, the Electronics Shop Lead, is here to help folks get started, locate tools and parts, and support a fun, collaborative environment. Attendees are encouraged to share knowledge, but please note this isn’t a repair service, and there may not be anyone available for one-on-one troubleshooting.

Wire Wrapped Jewelry

Stitch and Flip Foundation Piecing Quilting Class

From Doodles to Digital: Ed Emberley-Inspired Laser-Cut Animals

Unlock your inner designer in this playful two-day workshop that blends the charm of Ed Emberley’s drawing method with the power of digital design in Cuttle.xyz. Inspired by Emberley’s belief that anyone can draw using simple shapes, you’ll learn how to create your own laser-cuttable artwork. No drawing or design experience needed.
Please Note:Participants should be comfortable using a computer, including basic tasks like using a mouse or trackpad, navigating a website, and typing in a web browser.

CMS Amateur Radio Club (W1CMS) Monthly Meetup

Join us on June 15th at 1 p.m. for our monthly meeting. You do not have to be a licensed ham to participate, just bring your curiosity and energy! Everyone is welcome! Each month, we feature a presenter (45 minutes to an hour), and after we adjourn to MakerSpace’s Digital Fabrication and Electronics Lab for open-time kit building, sharing, studying, and socializing.

FREE Youth Sewing Class
June 16, 2025 3 p.m. — 5 p.m.
Space is limited, pre-registration is required!
This free basic sewing class is directed at youth ages 15 and up (parent/guardians are welcome to join) to become comfortable enough sewing and using the tools to participate in Wednesday’s PRIDE Quilting event (sign up for that here: Youth PRIDE Quilting. Learn how to use the Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machines we have at Claremont MakerSpace. Participants will learn the parts of the sewing machines, how to change needles and presser feet, wind a bobbin and thread the machine, how to get the right tension, trouble shoot problems, sew basic stitches and stretch stitches, and buttonholes.
This class will end at 5 pm giving participants time to walk to Broad St. Park for the flag raising.

Stencil Dyeing with Indigo
June 17, 2025 5 p.m. — July 1, 2025 7:30 p.m.
In this 3-session class we take our inspiration from katazome, a Japanese printmaking technique using sticky rice paste and hand-cut stencils to create vibrant patterns on cloth. We will discuss the traditional methods of making katazome prints and present some modern techniques that can be used in a home studio. Students will be provided with cloth to print and dye. This class is suitable for all experience levels.

Photography Club
June 18, 2025 5 p.m. — 7 p.m.
Join the Claremont Makerspace Photography Club for an evening walk through the heart of downtown Claremont. We’ll photograph:
- Historic mill buildings
- The flowing Sugar River
- Lively Opera House Square
Together, we’ll tackle the creative challenges of real-world lighting and composition—and learn from one another along the way.

Youth PRIDE Quilting

Join us for a meaningful evening of creativity, community, and service at our Youth PRIDE Quilting Event. Open to teens ages 15+ and their parent or guardian (not required), this free event invites participants to help create a PRIDE-themed quilt that will be donated to Baby Steps, a local nonprofit supporting young families.
Together, we’ll celebrate inclusivity and identity while contributing to a project that symbolizes unity and support. Whether you’re an experienced quilter or a total beginner, this is a great opportunity to express your PRIDE, connect with others in a welcoming environment, and take part in a collaborative act of service.

CMS Community Quilts
June 19, 2025 noon — 6 p.m.
Helping hands needed to make warm, comforting quilts for Baby Steps in Claremont! Only basic skills needed. Do you know how to use a sewing machine, iron, or rotary cutter? This is not a quilting class, but we will guide you along through the whole process of making twin and crib size quilts for those in need in our area.
Please come when it is convenient for you, even if you can only spare an hour.

Restore a Board
June 20, 2025 7 p.m. — June 20, 2025 8 p.m.
Favorite cutting board or serving board in need of a little TLC, then this is the place for you. Bring your board by the shop and we will refinish it with some sanding and oiling till it’s (almost) as good as new. Once you register for a slot, Peter will reach out to you to schedule your 20-minute session and find out what work your board needs.

Indigo Dyeing Day
June 21, 2025 noon — 2 p.m.
Join Artist in Residence Berkley Heath for an afternoon of indigo dyeing! She will be demonstrating dyeing in her indigo vat and participants will be able to dye small samples of cotton fabric and have the opportunity to bring an item from home to dye (note that this material needs to be clean and natural fiber–cotton, linen, wool, etc). Bring an old cotton T-shirt and dye it blue with natural indigo!

Master Your Own Sewing Machine
June 25, 2025 1 p.m. — 4 p.m.
Ever feel intimidated by your sewing machine? Ready to stop just staring at the buttons and start creating? This class is designed to help you take control of your own sewing machine, whether it’s been sitting in your closet or you’re just beginning to explore the world of sewing
- Get to know your machine: Learn the essential parts of your machine, what they do, and how to maintain it.
- Threading and tension: Understand how to properly thread your machine, set the right tension, and troubleshoot common issues.
- Practice basic stitches: Gain confidence with simple stitches such as straight, zig-zag, and decorative stitches.

Mordant Printing with Natural Dyes
July 12, 2025 10 a.m. — July 13, 2025 2 p.m.
Mordants are substances, generally metallic salts, that are used in combination with natural dyes to create lasting colors on cloth. In this class, we will create thickened mordant pastes to paint and print designs on cotton yardage. We will cover fabric preparation, making a printing surface, simple stamp-making, natural dye chemistry and history, as well as post dyeing fabric care. Students will create a color reference chart on cloth to use in future dyeing endeavors, as well as their own uniquely patterned pieces.
$170 for members/$200 for non-members

Rigid Heddle Weaving for Beginners – Scarf in a Day
July 19, 2025 9:30 a.m. — 5:30 p.m.
Join me for a full one-day exploration of weaving taking a “naked” loom and dressing it in beautiful colors. Then spend the day falling into the rhythm weaving your personal summer scarf. This day long class will run from 9:30 – 5:30 with a lunch break mid class. Class includes your own loom for the day plus individualized instruction to ensure success. A selection of weaving materials will be available for purchase at the start of the class. Bring lunch, beverage and snacks.
$100 for members/$120 non-members PLUS $20 in cash for the instructor to cover materials fees
